On The Potter's Wheel October 27, 2006 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Jeremiah 18:4
A preacher friend who has experienced more than the average amount of troubles and burdens in life signs all his letters On The Potters Wheel. That is his way of saying that his Christian life is still in process and he is trusting God to mold him daily into the image of Christ. His testimony is that his life is clay in the divine Potters wise and loving hands.
Louis Braille (1809-52) invented the method of raised dots on paper to symbolize letters of the alphabet which permits blind persons to read. Louis Braille was blinded as a child when he was playing with his fathers awl. He fell on the awl where it struck his eye blinding him. Years later Louis Braille used the awl that blinded him to create the Braille alphabet that has helped blind persons around the world. Suffering was turned into blessing. Like the Cross of Jesus, an instrument of death gave life to needy souls.
Stress and pressure can be Gods instrument to develop our souls to be a blessing to others. It is noted that the famous Stradivarius violin which gives such beautiful music must be made by wood from special trees. The wood for a Stradivarius comes from trees raised above 12,000 feet altitude. The cold air and high winds of the mountains puts a strength in the wood that helps to produce a beautiful music like no other. So, the high winds of troubles are used by the Holy Spirit to mold a life yielded to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and a life full of Gods tender and sweet power to bless others. We are all on the Potters wheel, and He is changing us daily int! o the likeness of Christ.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. I Corinthians 10:13
Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way! Thou art the potter, I am the clay! Mold me and make me After Thy will, While I am waiting, Yielded and still.
Holy Father, we acknowledge your Lordship and loving right to do with our lives whatever is Thy will. Your will is always best. You are the Potter and we are the clay. Help us to rejoice when life turns in ways we would not choose. Thank you for your loving care. We love you and trust you. Thank you for making us into the likeness of Jesus. In His name. Amen |
